When the tooth fairy would visit our house, it would be a different one each time. They would always leave a note that had to be read in certain ways....for example....cowboy tooth fairy, hillbilly fairy, British fairy, ect. The kids would always have to go on a treasure hunt to find their money. It was so much fun running all over the house looking in Dad's houseshoes, the washing machine, the oven, ect. only to find another note that led them to a different place. This created many fond memories and hours of fun as they would replace the notes and search again. Every kid should enjoy such an experience. If you don't think so, just ask my kids!!! They're 21 and 25 and have a blast telling the stories of tooth fairy visits!!!

Recently, while assisting in a simple extraction, we had to do something a little different. The child's tooth was badly decayed and we didn't want to send it home with him. We made a fake tooth by cutting up a cotton roll into the shape of a tooth and placed it in a small box so he would have something to put under the pillow for the Tooth Fairy. The next day we got a phone call from the little boy. He was quite upset. At our house the tooth fairy usually leaves a $1.00 for each and every tooth no matter what size or how it was lost. We even had one pulled by the dentist and the tooth fairy still left a dollar.

At our house the tooth fairy left a silver dollar for the first tooth lost of the year in which it was lost. Thereafter, the tooth fairy left between $1.00 and $5.00 depending on the difficulty of the removal. We have a special pillow with a tiny pocket into which we put the teeth and the tooth fairy deposits her surprise. The tooth fairy once left special collector coins- 1/2 dimes and buffalo nickels for my son who had to have 4 teeth pulled out at once. He had it done with no anesthesia, and the tooth fairy felt he deserved a special prize.

The tooth fairy normally doesn't come when I leave my tooth out. She comes the next day. I get $1.00 for every tooth, but once she left me $2.00.

I leave my tooth in a glass of water. I don't think the tooth fairy likes this idea because she has only ever taken two of my teeth.
